Reuniting Families
For those looking to sponsor family members, our Reuniting Families service provides invaluable legal advice and support. RACS assists not only with applications and sponsorship forms, but also with legal representation at both interviews and tribunal hearings.
We are honoured to work closely with refugees on the journey toward reuniting with their loved ones.
Here are just a couple of their stories:
Jeanine’s story
Jeanine is a refugee from East Africa, who, fearing for her life, fled her home country.
She became separated from her two sons in her escape, and reached out to RACS for legal support when she arrived in Australia.
Her ordeal through the legal system would last years, until finally, she was granted a permanent visa. This meant that she could apply for her children to come live with her in safety.
Nargis’s story
Nargis was newly married to Siar when the Taliban took over Afghanistan, forcing her to escape and the couple to be separated.
Nargis found RACS shortly after her arrival in Australia and our lawyers helped her and her family to apply for permanent visas. She had found safety in Australia, but how could she have a future here without her husband?
“It’s emotionally hard, especially when I was seeing other people who have a normal life,” she shared. “They get engaged, they get married and they’re together, just normal and they go out, they go shopping, they have their normal life, they think about the future. When I was thinking about myself, I didn’t know what would happen.”
“It’s one of the highlights of my job to let RACS clients know that their loved ones have been accepted to come to Australia and they’ll soon be back together again.”
