10 years at RACS!
Last month, Sarah Dale, our Centre Director and Principal Solicitor, marked ten years at RACS!
When Sarah joined RACS in 2013, she had already spent a number of years working with people seeking asylum and refugees in visa cancellation and civil law issues.
Sarah was the first Child Specialist Solicitor at RACS, developing an outreach legal service to assist unaccompanied children seeking asylum in Australia. Sarah has spent countless hours advocating for and working with people inside our various detention networks and dedicated much of her legal casework to children.
Sarah has seen four different Federal Governments sit in Parliament and has tirelessly led RACS in responding to each Government's shift in humanitarian and asylum policy in this time. In 2016, Sarah became Principal Solicitor and went on to become Centre Director in 2019.
Sarah has participated in numerous panels, conferences and talks over the years, most notably the UNHCR Expert Roundtable in Brussels on family reunification, and in consultation with the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders at York University.
She has won several prestigious awards, including Migration Partner of the Year by Lawyers Weekly in 2018, and was the winner of the 2019 UTS Alumni Law Award.
RACS functions as a leader in refugee law and policy today because of the efforts of Sarah over the last decade, and we are immensely proud of her and her work.
Thank you, Sarah, from all of us at RACS and the community you fight for everyday 🧡
