Submission on trans and gender-diverse (TGD) rights
This submission is an opportunity for RACS to contribute to the Australian Human Rights Commission’s national project aiming to map current and emerging threats to TGD human rights in Australia.
We wish to draw specific attention to the threats to TGD people seeking asylum and refugees who are seeking protection in Australia. Namely, this submission comments on the manner in which the Department of Home Affairs (Department) processes and assesses protection visa applications made by TGD people, and concludes that decisions makers and other public servants within the Department would benefit from further training. This submission also draws attention to the difficulties our clients have in accessing services.
