Current positions available:

Team Lead Solicitor

RACS is seeking a dedicated person to join its team of committed human rights lawyers as an experienced Senior Solicitor, in the position of Team Lead Solicitor. You must be an admitted solicitor, with more than 5years post qualification experience and extensive experience supporting people seeking asylum and refugees.

The position is a fixed-term 18 month contract role only.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting RACS in advancing its strategic mission in achieving justice and dignity for a with refugees

  • Providing casework, limited assistance and advice as required

  • Managing a large volume of client data and documentation

Essential selection criteria includes:

  • Extensive experience in providing legal assistance to people that are seeking asylum, stateless or displaced

  • Extensive experience advocating for clients in a Court or Tribunal based setting

  • Experience in mentoring and supervising a legal team

Paralegal

We are seeking two people to join the RACS team as Paralegals. The primary focus of the position(s) is to provide paralegal and administrative support to the Solicitors at RACS.

The position is a full-time fixed-term 12 month contract role only.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing referrals from caseworkers, other welfare agencies and directly from clients

  • Completing client intake and taking instructions from clients as required

  • Liaising with clients and agencies to obtain all necessary documents and information to enable effective provision of legal advice and/or assistance.

Essential selection criteria includes:

  • Demonstrated commitment to refugee and human rights issues

  • Ability to work independently and in a legal tea

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a confident and a respectful manner
